An email safe list is a list of email addresses that are not shared with third parties. This is done to protect the privacy of the people on the list. The email safe list can be used for many purposes, such as sending newsletters or other marketing materials.
Conditions Of Email Safe Lists
Everybody who is on these lists knows that they will be receiving emails from other members. This is one of the conditions of their “safe list” membership. Those who join these lists are willing to agree to this condition because they want to send out their own commercial emails to the others on the list.
The result: everyone is sending emails to each other but are they reading them? In many cases, they are not. It gets worse sometimes savvy members sign up with a less-frequently-used account on their end, so they will never bother to read your emails, but they will still send you their emails.
The Bad Side of Email Safe Lists
In some cases, it can be a bad idea to join email safe lists because spammers could infiltrate the list or get a hold of it. This enables them to send bulk messages to a large number of email addresses on the list. It can also be difficult for subscribers to unsubscribe from a safe list.
Having said that, it is always wiser to start your own mailing list and build it with opt-in subscribers, no matter how tempting safe lists can be.
